Musk has run into trouble with his tweets in the past. In 2018, Musk tweeted that he had secured the funding needed to take Tesla private. That comment eventually led to Musk and the Securities and Exchange Commission coming up with a list of things he could and couldn’t tweet about. A couple of those topics, pulled from an April 2019 court filing: new or proposed business lines that are unrelated to then-existing business lines, and projection, forecast, or estimate numbers regarding the company’s business that have not been previously published in official company guidance or deviate from previously published official company guidance.
